Antinori Peppoli Chianti Classico DOCG. Cuvee from Tuscany, Italy. This wine is characterized by beautiful fruit aromas of red fruits, with hints of vanilla and coffee. The taste is full, soft and with nice tannins. In order to enjoy the freshness of the fruit, it is recommended that this wine not be kept for many years. This wine is made from 90% Sangiovese grapes and 10% Merlot and Syrah. Sangiovese: the most common ancient and very robust, but thinly membraned species. Originally from Tuscany and from there spread throughout Italy. Sangiovese consisting of two qualitatively very different sub-varieties. The Sangiovese piccolo (the lesser) dominates and is the main variety in Chianti. Syrah: a strong blue grape of very high quality. This grape is usually not easy for wine growers, but it is the seasoning for many Côtes du Rhône Villages. Delivers incredibly powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being stiff. The Syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is not very susceptible to grape diseases such as Oidium. Merlot comes from the word merle, which is French for blackbird. Merlot is a classic grape variety that is used in Bordeaux wines in combination with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. For a long time it was considered an inferior grape that had no personality of its own and was only used in the Médoc and Pessac-Léognan/Graves to take the edge off Cabernet. Where he did appear alone and showed a surprising, full, ripe, opulent personality with an inviting juiciness was in Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Only when both wine regions emerged from the shadow of their neighbors could merlot emerge from the shadow of cabernet. Since then it has been successfully planted in California and later in almost all regions of the world. Merlot is one of the king of grapes in Bordeaux, but is also successfully grown in France in the Languedoc. Furthermore, it is popular in California, Italy, Eastern Europe, Chile and even as far away as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
