Azienda Vitivinicola MO Langhe Dolcetto DOC from Piedmont, Italy. This family’s passion has been handed down from father to son for over a century. The family uses only the best grapes for production. Cultivation is quite traditional and no herbicides or fertilizers are used. Dolcetto has a beautiful ruby red colour, pleasant wine smell with an aromatic taste and soft tannins. Dolcetto is a blue grape variety from Piedmont that originated in the Langhe hills, more specifically in Dogliani, just south of the Barolo area. Deep in colour, medium intense in bouquet, with clear dark fruit notes (blueberries) and especially fruity without hard tannins.

This wine is suitable for storage. Dolcetto is an early ripening blue grape. This grape is characteristic of Northern Italy and Piedmont in particular. Dolcetto means “little sweet”. The grape produces a dry red wine with often firm tannins, which can be stored for years, especially after aging in wood. There are several DOC(G)s in Piedmont where Dolcetto is the most important grape. These are Alba, Asti, Acqui, Langhe, Monregalesi, Ovada, Diano d’Alba and Dogliani. In general, the wine Dolcetto di Dogliani (recently: Dogliani) is considered the best. This grape produces a wine with a relatively low acidity, soft tannins, while it gives aromas of lots of black fruit, coffee and certainly a hint of violets. The wine goes well with pasta and tomato sauce, lamb and hard aged cheeses such as Pecorino. In Liguria, where this grape is better known as “Ormeasco”, we find the grape that has much less fruit in its aroma and is much earthier in taste.
