Baldovar Cerro Negro

Mencia by Baldovar from Valencia, Spain. In the glass, it is a red wine with a violet rim and an intense ruby layer. The nose evokes aromas of lavender and geranium flowers, strawberry and cherry jam, toasted wood and a soft earthiness that harmonises the whole. Its intensity and aromatic depth stand out and develop very well with aeration. The palate is soft and bold, with a very fresh midpalate where acids and fruit mark the arrival to a structured and salty finish, the tannins are firm without being aggressive. The palate is very smooth and fresh and has a chalky note in the finish.It goes very well with game stews, gazpachos manchegos, rice dishes with mushrooms and fine meats.
