Bela-Bela Chenin Blanc

Bela-Bela Chenin Blanc from Western Cape, South Africa. A fruit-driven wine, with an abundance of tropical fruit and melon on the nose. Fresh and dry on the palate, fresh and long-lasting finish. With chicken dishes, fish or veal. Chenin Blanc a high quality white grape from which one can make stunningly beautiful sweet wines in the Loire, such as Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaume. Locally the grape, like the wine, is called pineau de la loire. The relatively neutral character of the grape and the high acidity that provide a fresh impression. The grape is sensitive to noble rot by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Also important in South Africa (known as Steen) and in California.
