Listán Negro: The blue version of listán in the Canary Islands, where it is mixed with negramoll (the tinta negra mole of Madeira), prieto, tintilla, malvasia rosada and others. In Tacoronte-Acentejo on Tenerife it is often the main component of the blended wine or is made pure. It is the most important blue grape on Lanzarote, where the vines grow in holes in the black volcanic soil and are sheltered from the rain-bringing west wind by stone walls. The wines are usually soft, tasty and not too heavy, although they can become fuller with wood aging and softer and lighter with macération carbonique. Sweet red wine is also made on a small scale in Tenerife.
