Boutinot Cuvée Jean Paul Rouge VDP de Vaucluse. Grenache, Syrah by Boutinot from Languedoc, France. Light red wine with a nose of plums and strawberries. A true “passe partout” for all days. The Grenache grape grows in warm and dry areas, such as the South of France, Spain, South America and also California and Australia. This grape is also the most cultivated type of grape in the world for producing red . As already mentioned, the grape is called ‘Garnacha’ in Spanish. But you may also know it as ‘Cannonau’, which is what it is called in Sardinia. This grape is a real holidaymaker, and needs sun and hot stones to fully bake and ripen. The Grenache contains little tannin and is sensitive to oxidation, so it is better to drink it immediately instead of storing it. The grape has a thin skin and is therefore lighter in color compared to other red wine types. The more grapes per bunch, the lighter the color. The high sugar content is typical of this wine and also makes it stronger in alcohol content, but also sweet and firmer. Grenache wines can be recognized by a taste of white pepper, herbs and fruit. In terms of scent, you can smell almost the same ingredients: blackberries, pepper, cherries, berries and a slightly spicy scent. Syrah: a strong blue grape of very high quality. This grape is usually not easy for wine growers, but it is the seasoning for many Côtes du Rhône Villages. Delivers incredibly powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being stiff. The Syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is not very susceptible to grape diseases such as Oidium.
