Malvasia nera is a group of grapes from the malvasia family. The relationships between them are complex, but in general a Malvasia Nera grape will be an aromatic, dun-colored variety that can be used for dry, sparkling and sweet wines, as well as specialty passito and rosé styles. The juice will range in color from light to a deep ruby-red, producing wines that are light-to-medium moistened with flavors of cherry and plum.
