Cederberg Five Generations Chenin Blanc Limited Edition from Cederberg, South Africa. Top wine of which only 3600 bottles are made per year based on 100% Chenin Blanc grape. Lots of aromas of peaches, lime zest, nuts and honey with an undertone of vanilla. Beautiful, full and rich palette with some wood notes from its 6 months of barrel aging. Very elegant finish. Limited Edition Chenin Blanc a high quality white grape from which one can make stunningly beautiful sweet wines in the Loire, such as Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaume. Locally the grape, like the wine, is called pineau de la loire. The relatively neutral character of the grape and the high acidity that provide a fresh impression. The grape is sensitive to noble rot by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Also important in South Africa (known as Steen) and in California.
