Chateau de Serame Murmure de Serame Petit Verdot Rouge from Corbieres, France. Alcohol content: 14 ABV. The atypical nose of this grape variety from the Medoc, grown in a Mediterranean climate, has a deep red colour with hints of violet, reminiscent of blackcurrant buds and eucalyptus. On the palate, the tannins are clear but not aggressive, and the long finish proves that even one of the most austere Bordeaux grape varieties can find its place under the Languedoc sun.

Château Sérame is a historic Languedoc estate whose origins date back to Gallo-Roman times. It is located in an unspoilt natural setting bordered by the river Aude and the Canal du Midi. It lies at the confluence of two appellations: Corbières and Minervois. With the arrival of Aymeric Izard as vineyard manager in 2020, the vineyard has undergone a real qualitative transformation. The 200 hectares of vines have been 100% organic since 2010,

The grape varieties that make up Château Sérame Rosé 20202 are harvested at dawn to take advantage of the lower temperatures and preserve their greatest aromatic potential. Na de directe persing gevolgd door een koude bezinking, vindt er een langzame gisting plaats gedurende 15 tot 18 dagen bij 18°C onder gecontroleerde temperaturen. The wine matures on lees and is stirred regularly.

Petit verdot is a very high quality grape with a thick and dark colored skin. The grape originally comes from the Médoc and is mainly planted in the Margaux, where the soil leads to lighter wines that need the extra tannin and color of petit verdot. Petit verdot is only used in small quantities to give red wines a little more strength, depth and substance. The grape ripens very late and produces an irregular harvest. Only in the best and warmest years does the grape fully ripen. Due to this difficult nature, many vintners have replaced the petit verdot with commercially more reliable grapes such as caberbet sauvignon, merlot and malbec. Yet you see it more and more these days that quality-conscious wine growers are planting the petit verdot again. The wines are characterized by a very intense, powerful and concentrated taste with great spiciness and a lot of depth.
