Château Pas Du Cerf Château Rose from Cotes de Provence, France. 50% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 20% Tibouren, 10% Syrah. Characterful Rose de Provence. Fresh and dry in flavor, small red fruits with a bit of spiciness followed by a wonderfully long finish.

The Grenache grape grows in warm and dry areas, think of the South of France, Spain, South America and also California and Australia. This grape is also the most cultivated type of grape in the world for producing red . As already mentioned, the grape is called ‘Garnacha’ in Spanish. But you may also know it as ‘Cannonau’, which is what it is called in Sardinia. This grape is a real holidaymaker, and needs sun and hot rocks to fully bake and ripen.

Cinsault/Cinsaut is a good quality grape variety that feels very much at home in the warmer wine growing areas and is mainly planted in the western part of southern France.

Tibouren: a Provencal blue grape variety of good quality. Mainly found in Provence. This grape variety is vulnerable to coulure, which can cause low yields. Delivers a very spicy and characterful dry rosé in which herbs and some fruit dominate. Syrah, a strong blue grape of very high quality. This grape is usually not easy for wine growers, but it is the seasoning for many Côtes du Rhône Villages. Delivers incredibly powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being stiff. The Syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is not very susceptible to grape diseases such as Oidium.
