Complices de Loire Les Graviers Chinon Rouge AOP Bio, Cabernet Franc from Chinon, France, This is an organic red wine made from Cabernet Franc, originating from the Chinon region in the Loire Valley. This wine has a fresh and lively taste, with aromas of red fruit such as cherries and raspberries, supplemented with spicy and light earthy notes. With a supple structure, soft tannins and good acidity, the wine is elegant and well balanced. Les Gravures Bio 2023 is an accessible and fresh Chinon, ideal for drinking young. It goes perfectly with grilled meats, charcuterie or a selection of cheeses, offering a beautiful expression of the Chinon terroir in an organic way. Delicious with cold starters, roast pork and meatballs with tomato sauce. Cabernet Franc is a fairly productive variety. It is in fact the original cabernet grape. The much more famous Cabernet Sauvignon is a descendant of the Cabernet Franc. It probably comes from Bordeaux where it is one of the classic components of Bordeaux wines. In the 17th century it was taken to the Loire Valley where it was subsequently successfully planted. Cabernet Franc likes calcareous gravel, sand and clay soils and ripens about ten days earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon. It thrives very well in cooler soils. At its best, Cabernet Franc has an unmistakable and appetizing aroma of raspberries and pebbles washed in spring water and a refreshingly tart scent of blackcurrant leaves. This aroma stimulates the taste buds. Cabernet Franc is used successfully in Bordeaux where it is an important player, especially on the soils of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. He is also very successful in the Loire and more specifically in Chinon Saumur-Champigny and Bourgeuil. The grape is also used in the south of France, Italy, California, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and South Africa. It is often used to mix with cabernet sauvignon. Cabernet sauvignon is the most famous grape of all. He is therefore rightly called King Cab. Chinon is a well-known wine region in the Loire Valley, located along the Vienne River, a tributary of the Loire. The area is best known for its red wines, made from Cabernet Franc, although small amounts of white wines from Chenin Blanc and rosé are also produced. Chinon’s red wines range from light and fruity to fuller and complex, depending on the soil type: sand and gravel produce lighter wines, while limestone and clay produce richer, more structured wines. They often offer aromas of red and black fruit, with subtle spicy, earthy and sometimes floral notes. Chinon wines combine elegance with character and are loved by lovers of refined and versatile red wines. They go well with poultry, lamb and grilled vegetables.
