Complices de Loire Les Petites Terrasses Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. This is an organic red wine made from Cabernet Franc, from the Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation in the Loire Valley. This wine offers a fresh and fruity taste with aromas of red fruit such as cherries and raspberries, combined with subtle spicy and earthy notes. With a supple structure, soft tannins and lively acidity, it is an elegant, accessible wine that is ideal for drinking young. Les Petites Terrasses Bio 2023 goes well with light meat dishes, grilled vegetables or an assortment of cheeses. It is an excellent representation of the terroir of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, with a refined and organic approach to the Cabernet Franc grape. Cabernet Franc is a fairly productive variety. It is in fact the original cabernet grape. The much more famous Cabernet Sauvignon is a descendant of the Cabernet Franc. It probably comes from Bordeaux where it is one of the classic components of Bordeaux wines. In the 17th century it was taken to the Loire Valley where it was subsequently successfully planted. Cabernet Franc likes calcareous gravel, sand and clay soils and ripens about ten days earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon. It thrives very well in cooler soils. At its best, Cabernet Franc has an unmistakable and appetizing aroma of raspberries and pebbles washed in spring water and a refreshingly tart scent of blackcurrant leaves. This aroma stimulates the taste buds. Cabernet Franc is used successfully in Bordeaux where it is an important player, especially on the soils of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. He is also very successful in the Loire and more specifically in Chinon Saumur-Champigny and Bourgeuil. The grape is also used in the south of France, Italy, California, Australia, New Zealand, Chile and South Africa. It is often used to mix with cabernet sauvignon. Cabernet sauvignon is the most famous grape of all. He is therefore rightly called King Cab.

Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil is a charming wine region in the Loire Valley, located near Bourgueil. It is known for its red wines, made from the Cabernet Franc grape, with sometimes a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines from this area are often lighter and fruitier than those from neighboring Bourgueil, thanks to the sandy soils. They have a lively character, with aromas of red fruit such as cherries, raspberries and berries, supplemented with floral and spicy notes. Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil produces smooth and elegant wines that are drinkable young, but can also mature for a short time. It is an ideal choice for lovers of refined, accessible Loire wines.
