Elico Vermentino IGP Mediterranee Blanc from Rhone Valley, France. Beautiful pale golden yellow colour with persistent green reflections.Intense nose, dominated by notes of exotic fruit, peach on syrup. The palate is delicious, with a combination of sweetness and a delicate spiciness. Nice flesh. Fresh citrus notes and candied. Mineral, almost salty finish. Very tasty, can be served alone as an aperitif or with light meals such as salads, white meat or grilled fish.

Located between the Monts du Vaucluse and the Luberon massif, near Isle sur la Sorgue, Caravinsérail is distinguished by the experience of its managers, wines that constantly seek authenticity, freshness and elegance, and a naturally proactive culture of striving for excellence.

Most of the wines come from organic farming or from the UNESCO-listed Mont Ventoux biosphere reserve.

In March 2000, Raphael Trouiller founded Domaine Cascavel in the Côtes du Ventoux appellation. Ownership and management of the domaine have since passed to Xavier Logette. A total of 9.5 hectares of vineyards are divided into 14 small plots and are planted with 25- to 60-year-old vines. Everything is grown purely organically to produce wines that are true to the terroir and have the soul of the south. Raphael’s oenologist Didier Robert, who is the tutor and boss of none other than Philippe Cambie. Despite an interim change of ownership, Didier has been cellar master at Cascavel continuously for 18 years. In Côtes du Ventoux, the grapes ripen significantly later than in the warmer Rhône valley, the wines are fresher and more differentiated, but still have the velvety warmth characteristic of the region. Like the entire Ventoux region, the winery led by Xavier Logette and his highly experienced winemaker Didier has been on a qualitative upswing for years, producing brilliant wines from the somewhat fresher terroirs on the Ventoux, which marks the geographical transition from the Rhône Valley to Provence.

Vermentino is a characteristic grape variety in Liguria, from the Italian island of Sardinia, and also from the French island of Corsica, where it is sometimes called malvoisie de corse. Vermentino is a good quality white grape that usually produces full, powerful wines. These dry white wines can have an interesting intense fruitiness with depth and refinement if they have undergone careful vinification. Vermentino appears to have been imported from Spain in the Middle Ages and was a subspecies of malvasia. This species underwent many mutations, so that there are now about 40 versions of vermentino. Also mistakenly called malvasia.
