Etyeki Kuria Szürekbarát (Orange Wine). Szürekbarát (Pinot Gris) from Kuria in Etyek Hungary. Pale, brick-orange colour. Full nose with aromas of citrus and pink pepper followed by ripe mandarin, grapefruit and orange. Behind the fruit appear floral notes of almond and peach blossom, complemented by a hint of cinnamon. Lively flavour with orange notes and a hint of salt in combination with almonds in the background. Pleasantly bitter and refreshing aftertaste. Delicious with dishes with chicken or pork and Asian spices. Very successful with dessert with orange, pomegranate and caramel. Pinot Gris: the grapes get a light pink-grey colour when they are fully ripe. The character varies from lush and fat to light and lively. The pinot gris provides spiciness in the wine. In Alsace, Pinot Gris is harvested late and is used to make a rich, complex wine. In Italy, where the grape is called pinot grigio, it is harvested early and a lively, fresh wine is made from it. In Germany, the grape is also successful and is made into both Alsatian-style and semi-dry wines. Here, the grape is called Ruländer, grauer burgunder (Grauburgunder) or grauklevner. Ruländer is widely grown in the Baden wine region.
