Firriato Ecru Passito – 50 cl. Desert wine from Sicily, Italy. The grapes are laid out to dry (appassimento) for 3 months on traditional thatched carpets. After pressing, the wine ferments in barriques (Allier) where it will age for 18-24 months. A further bottle aging of 6 months follows.

Malvasia, also known as malvoisie and malmsey. A very sweet juicy grape. Madeira supplies, among other things, the amber-colored, lusciously sweet Malmsey Madera. In almost every region there is a wine made from malvasia, which can be dry, sweet or sparkling. The grape is grown in Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Zibibbo or Moscatellone is the Sicilian name for the less aromatic and less seductive muscat or alexandrie. This classic grape variety was most likely introduced to Italy by the Arabs in the eighth century. It is remarkable that in the early twentieth century the Zibibbo was found almost exclusively on the small island of Pantelleria (south of Sicily). Past and present, the zibibbo is used to make delicious sweet and full-sweet dessert wines that are undoubtedly among the best of their kind.
