Firriato Santagostino Rosso Magnum Nero d’Avola, Syrah by Firriato from Sicily, Italy. Traditional vinification in temperature-controlled cuvées, followed by malolactic fermentation and 8-month lagering in French and American barrels. Deep red wine with lovely notes of ripe, red fruit (cherry and strawberry) with spicy aromas of cinnamon and liquorice. Soft and elegant taninne and a nice warm and long finish. This grape is not usually easy for winemakers, but it is the flavour maker for many Côtes du Rhône Village. Delivers unimaginably powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being rigid. The syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is little susceptible to grape diseases such as Oïdiumen
