Henschke Henry’s Seven Shiraz Grenache Viognier, from Barossa, Australia. A dark red wine with purple tones and a complex aroma of spicy plums and raspberries with a touch of black pepper. It is elegant, a little spicy and has a velvet texture. A delicate combination of 65% shiraz, 20% grenache, 10% mataro and 5% viognier fermented separately, blended and bottled after 10 months. Delicious wine with spicy and powerful stews. Also goes very well with Oriental-inspired stew. The Grenache grape grows in hot and dry areas, think southern France, Spain, South America as well as California and Australia. Also, this grape is the most widely grown type of grape in the world for producing red . As just mentioned, the grape is called ‘Garnacha’ in Spanish. But you might also know it as ‘Cannonau’ how it is called in Sardinia. A true holiday grape, it needs sun and hot pebbles to fully bake and ripen. Syrah: a strong blue grape of very high quality. This grape is not usually easy for winemakers, but it is the flavour maker for many Côtes du Rhône Village. Delivers unimaginably powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being rigid. The syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is little susceptible to grape diseases such as Oïdiumen. Viognier: an extremely vulnerable white grape of very high quality that forms the basis of Château Grillet and Condrieu. This grape is also allowed up to 20% in the red Côte Rôtie. Viognier produces a delicate, softly scented white wine. More and more quality-conscious wine growers are planting Viognier and as a result their white wines usually increase enormously in quality.
