Jim Barry Single Vinyard Shiraz Claire Valley. Deep intense cherry red color with colored tears. Rather ethereal nose reminiscent of menthol and eucalyptus, complemented by vanilla, cassis and blackberry. The taste really does set in, peppery too with tannins of fondant chocolate and the fruitiness of blue plum and stewed dark fruit. The fine acidity of this wine forms a nice pairing with tantalizing spiciness all the way to the long, drawn-out finale.

Syrah: a strong blue grape of very high quality. This grape is usually not easy for wine growers, but it is the seasoning for many Côtes du Rhône Villages. Delivers incredibly powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being stiff. The Syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is not very susceptible to grape diseases such as Oidium.
