La Cepa de Pelayo Cupido Macabeo from Manchuela, Spain is a lively and fresh white wine that perfectly expresses the elegance and freshness of the Macabeo grape. With its fruity aromas, floral hints and subtle minerality, it is a balanced wine that is delicious as an aperitif or in combination with light dishes. It has a golden color with hints of green reflections. The nose is dominated by floral notes, stone fruit with hints of honey, oak and vanilla. The taste has a creamy texture with hints of pineapple. It is fresh, intense with well-balanced acidity and length. Macabeo wines are usually drunk young to retain their fresh fruit character, but in some cases they can be aged for a short time on the lees (sur lie) to develop additional texture and complexity. This wine may have undergone a short maturation in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness and vibrancy.

Manchuela is one of the most recent Spanish DOs: officially recognized since July 28, 2000. However, the name “Manchuela” was already recognized as a wine region in 1966 by ministerial order.
