La Petite Ferme Barrel-fermented Chardonnay

La Petite Ferme Barrel-fermented Chardonnay from Franschhoek, South Africa. This Chardonnay is made from 50% From our Franshoek Estate grapes and 50% from Elim (Agulhas). 7 months of wood maturation 3 months of Batonnage. On the nose, it has a warm burnt butter and toasted almond touch. Fresh ripe pineapple and green apple flavors follow on the palate.A balanced and complex wine that manages to combine the fresh citrus and classic rich buttery aromas. Chardonnay: the grape of white Burgundy and Champagne, and is planted all over the world. Delivers good to very good wine with a full, dry taste. Chardonnay is a grape that does not have a clear character, which depends on the terroir (soil and climate) and the method of wine making. Chardonnay lends itself very well to maturing in wooden barrels.
