La Petite Ferme Variations Rhone Blend. Grenache, Shiraz, Viognier from Franschhoek, South Africa.
Shiraz and Viognier fermented and matured in 10% New French oak and 10 months in older barrels. Grenache aged in stainless steel and old French oak barrels to preserve fruit. This wine is young already very accessible with light oak notes and fine tannins. An excellent match with red meats and the better stews.

The Grenache grape grows in warm and dry areas, think of the South of France, Spain, South America and also California and Australia. This grape is also the most cultivated type of grape in the world for producing red . As already mentioned, the grape is called ‘Garnacha’ in Spanish. But you may also know it as ‘Cannonau’, which is what it is called in Sardinia. This grape is a real holidaymaker, and needs sun and hot rocks to fully bake and ripen. Grenache contains little tannin and is sensitive to oxidation, so it is better to drink it immediately instead of storing it. The grape has a thin skin and is therefore lighter in color compared to other red wine varieties. The more grapes per bunch, the lighter the color. The high sugar content is typical for this wine and also makes it stronger in alcohol content, but also sweet and firmer. Grenache wines can be recognized by a taste of white pepper, herbs and fruit. In terms of smell, you can smell almost the same ingredients: blackberries, pepper, cherries, berries and a slightly spicy smell.

The Syrah/Shiraz grape grows best in a warm and dry area. In addition, the Syrah should not be planted in an area where it is too windy. Due to the thick skin of the Syrah grape, the grape has a lot of tannin in it, to temper this taste it is matured in wood for a long time. The best serving temperature for this wine is somewhat higher than for other red wines, namely 18 degrees Celsius. The Syrah wine is often mixed with other grape varieties to create a fuller red wine. For example, the variety is mixed with the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Grenache, which produces delicious wines. The Syrah is planted in the Rhône region. A famous wine made from the Syrah is the red Hermitage. This wine comes from the north of the Rhône, where the grape thrives on granite soil.

Viognier, an extremely vulnerable white grape of very high quality that forms the basis of Château Grillet and Condrieu. This grape is also allowed up to 20% in the red Côte Rôtie. Viognier produces a delicate, softly scented white wine. More and more quality-conscious wine growers are planting Viognier and as a result their white wines usually increase enormously in quality.
