The grape produces a deep red, firm, highly acidic and tannic wine that can be stored for a very long time. It has a typical aroma of tar and roses. The famous Barolo and Barbaresco are made from this grape. In the north of Piemonte the grape is called Spanna, in Valtellina (Lombardy) Chiavennesca and in Valle d’Aosta Picotener. Outside Italy, Nebbiolo is very rarely seen, even outside the north of Italy this grape is only found very sporadically.
