Santa Cristina Campo Grande Orvieto Classico DOC-Umbria. Cuvee from Tuscany, Italy. A straw yellow white wine with intense and delicate aromas of fruit, including ripe apples, apricot and peach. It is a very fresh wine characterized by a soft and aromatic finish. Orvieto is an appellation awarded to wines from Umbria composed of trebbiano toscano, procanico or grechetto. This is an excellent aperitif wine on a summer terrace or a wonderful partner with fresh salads.

Grechetto is a good quality grape from central Italy that gives structure, richness and a nice nutty and leafy flavor to many white wines from Umbria. A good Orvieto owes a lot to grechetto and this also applies to the white wines Torgiano and Cervaro from Antinori. Grechetto is often mixed with trebbiano, malvasia and verdello. The yield is small, but grechetto is sufficiently resistant to diseases. Good Vin Santo (dessert wine) is made from it. Procanico. Officially, the scarce procanico grape is synonymous with the trebbiano toscano and genetically they are also identical. However, there are notable differences in terms of leaves and bunches. In addition, the procanico wine is much more aromatic, balsamic in tone and spicier. More personality. The name of the grape is said to be derived from the Latin ‘praecanere’, which means ‘to enchant’. We find the rarely planted procanico on the border of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. It does very well on the volcanic soil around Lake Bolsena. In the early 1970s, procanico was often replaced by trebbiano toscano clones that were more productive, but also of lower quality. Fortunately, there are winemakers who are restoring procanico. Trebbiano This white grape is found throughout Italy. Delivers dry wines with lots of color and aroma. In France, trebbiano is called ugni blanc or saint-émilion. The grape is mainly grown in Cognac and Armagnac and its wine disappears into the stills (Alembic = alchemists’ still)
