St.Andrea Boldogsagos Grand Superior, Cuvee from Eger, Hungary. With a soft perfume of tropical, ripe white fruits, this is a very elegant wine that is complemented by a unique mineral touch. The Eger region is a moderately warm region that allows grapes to develop slowly without too large temperature differences. This produces elegant wines that are nicely balanced between power and suppleness. Great wine to accompany poultry such as turkey with a tasty sauce. Generally a good match with grilled white meat. Also a winner with hard cheeses.

Olaszrizling is a widely planted grape variety in Hungary, from which light yellow, slightly aromatic wines are made. The quality of the wines depends greatly on the local conditions and the vintage. The most important wine regions are Balatonfüred-Csopak, Ászár-Neszmély and Badacsony. In Austria the grape is called Welschriesling, in Slovenia laški rizling, in the Czech Republic ryzlink vlašský, in Croatia Graševina [1] and in Italy riesling italico. All these designations suggest an Italian origin. The grape is not related to riesling. Pinot Gris, the grapes get a light pink-grey colour when they are fully ripe. The character varies from lush and fat to light and lively. Pinot gris provides spiciness in the wine. In Alsace, the pinot gris is harvested late and a rich, complex wine is made from it.

In Italy, where the grape is called pinot grigio, it is harvested early and a lively, fresh wine is made from it. In Germany, the grape is also successful and is made into both Alsatian-style and semi-dry wines. Here, the grape is called Ruländer, grauer burgunder (Grauburgunder) or grauklevner. Ruländer is widely grown in the Baden wine region.

Sauvignon Blanc also called fumé blanc, is the most important white grape of Bordeaux. Fresh, fruity wines are made along the Loire. In Sauternes, the grape is blended with the sémillon. Sauvignon blanc spread to the rest of the world through migrants in the 18th century. In wine regions with a temperate climate, the grape feels at its best. The sauvignon blanc, locally called surin, is one of the oldest grape varieties planted in France. Sauvignon Blanc has a characteristic perfume of flowers and gooseberries, is spicy but can be both tart (around the upper reaches of the Loire) and plump and round. The wines usually have a high acidity.

Viognier, an extremely vulnerable white grape of very high quality that forms the basis of Château Grillet and Condrieu. This grape is also allowed up to 20% in the red Côte Rôtie. Viognier produces a delicate, softly scented white wine. More and more quality-conscious wine growers are planting Viognier and as a result their white wines usually increase enormously in quality.
