Una Casual Friday Cuvée, Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon from Burgerland, Austria. Our Heideboden – the red grapes united! The wine to end the week! A ruby red wine with violet reflections, fruity aroma, delicate cherries, red berries paired with light spices. A mineral echo in the finish. Pastas, light and hearty meat dishes.

Blaufrankisch is a red wine grape that originated in Franconia in present-day Germany, where it means “blue wine” in the region. It originates from Slovenia and, together with Zweigelt, is one of the typical red grape varieties in Austria. It produces light, spicy wines with a slight acidity and goes perfectly with Austro-Hungarian dishes.Blaufränkisch is a dark grape variety used in red wine. Blaufrankisch vines are late-maturing grape varieties planted in warmer locations. After Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch is the second most important red grape variety in Austria. Zweigelt (blauer Zweigelt, Zweigeltrebe), a typical Austrian grape, was developed in 1922 by Dr. Friedrich Zweigelt, director of the Bundeslehr- und Versuchanstalt für Wein- und Obstbau in Klosterneuburg, which is Saint- Laurent crossed with the Blaufränkisch (Limberger). The grape is easy to grow (largely in Burgenland and Lower Austria) and in other cool climates, especially England and parts of Germany. Zweigelt produces generous yields and pleasantly drinkable, fairly light, intensely fruity Beaujolais-like wines. As a young wine it has a fruity bouquet, which becomes rounder and finer as it matures. The qualities range from drinking young, light table wine to powerful wines for storage.

Cabernet Sauvignon is best known in Bordeaux where, together with merlot and cabernet franc, it produces high-class wines. It needs a lot of heat to ripen, otherwise it will become green and juicy with a taste of green pepper. Too much heat makes it soft and jam-like, with a taste of blackcurrants. Cabernet Sauvignon produces very aromatic wines with scents of blackcurrant, vanilla, spices (pepper), tobacco, plum, cherry, toasted bread and cedar. The wines usually have a long shelf life, have a lot of tannin and in principle have to mature in barriques.

UNA

Harald Lehner established the “Pannonische Weingärtner Neusiedler See” in 1995. In 2007,he devoted himself completely to “Gaudium Vinum Galos”. High-quality wines with perfect value for money. This oenologist, winemaker and cellar master grows his wines himself. No chemical additives are used in the winery. Only organic protein is used for vinification. Golser Wein’s wines are thus vegan and thus in the spirit of the times. Working sustainably is an important factor in our business. The Neusiedlersee wine-growing region lies on the eastern shore of the large, shallow steppe lake, Neusiedlersee, and borders the Hungarian border. As the region’s main white grape variety, an abundance of white wines are produced from Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Welschriesling and aromatic varieties such as Sämling and Muscat Ottonel.
The famous Grüner Veltliner can also be found here, much fruitier than in the north, but very aromatic with less acidity.
