Muscadelle is not related to Muscat, although its grapey, floral aroma suggests it is. It is widely grown in France, especially in Bordeaux and the Southwest. The wines of Muscadelle have a scent that is muscat-like. Wines of Muscadelle alone are rather flat and too pronounced in character. They are often blended to give those of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc extra soft fruit in scent and taste.
