Zevenwacht Chenin Blanc

Zevenwacht Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch, South Africa. The palate is both rich and refreshing and includes elements of honey, nuts and ripe pineapple and hints of yellow peach. The wine is classically dry, still luxuriously silky with excellent viscosity and length.

Chenin Blanc a high quality white grape from which one can make stunningly beautiful sweet wines in the Loire, such as Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaume. Locally the grape, as well as the wine, is called pineau de la loire. The relatively neutral character of the grape and the high acidity that provide a fresh impression. The grape is sensitive to noble rot by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Also important in South Africa (known as Steen) and in California.
