About Takler

Ferenc Takler and his sons, András and Ferenc Jr, have owned one of the leading wineries in the Szekszárd region since 1987. With high-quality red wines, they have established their name in the wine world. The family has a Swabian background (southern Germany) and has been making wine since 1725. Ferenc jr. thus belongs to the 9th generation of winemakers.

The vineyard comprises some 50 hectares of land, mainly loess, in the best parts of the wine region. In addition, Takler buys grapes from some 70 hectares. The main grape varieties are kékfrankos (11ha), merlot (10ha), cabernet franc (8ha) and zweigelt (12ha). In addition, we find kadarka, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir and syrah. The Takler family is determined to make kékfrankos, kadarka and Bikavér great again.

Ferenc Takler was elected Winemaker of the Year in Hungary in 1997. The Bartina, the Regnum and the Primarius are the top wines of the house.
