Avesso is a Portuguese grape that mainly occurs in the southeast of Vinho Verde. The yields of the avesso grape are high and the grapes are large. The wines have a high alcohol content and the acidity is lower than most Vinho Verdes. As a result, the wines feel full and heavy. In Portugal, it mainly occurs in the Vinho Verde and the Douro.
