A moment before lunch or just because. Every village or café has its own Vermut and this has nothing to do with the French or Italian Vernouth.

The word vermut comes from the German Wermut (wormwood), an important herb in the drink. In the 19th century, Vermut became popular in Spain and especially in Catalonia around Barcelona.

Reus is known as the capital of Vermut with a real Vermut museum. This is a large restaurant and bar with, of course, an exquisite collection of Vermut and walls, portals and stairwells packed with posters, placards, memorabilia and more than 2000 bottles from the past and present.

The Vermut is made from white or red wine and then fortified with a neutral alcohol to 15 to 18%. Then add the spices such as Gentian, Cinnamon, Coriander, Cardamom, Citrus, Cloves and many more “secret” spices for a special taste.
Then the Vermut matures in oak, often old Sherry barrels and is filtered and bottled after maturing
