Antares Carmenere (sc)

Antares Carmenere (sc) from Maule Chile. Carmenère is a closely related grape variety to Merlot that is grown almost exclusively in Chile. The color of the wine is ruby red. The aroma is complex but perfectly in tune with aromas of plum, spice, black pepper and toffee.

Carmenère, a high quality blue grape. Originally comes from Bordeaux, but completely disappeared from Europe at the end of the 19th century due to the attack of the grape aphid (Phylloxera). The grape is also called carmenet. Because Chile is completely Phylloxera free, carmenère can thrive in the climate of Chile. The grape produces little yield, but produces wines of great class.
