Arendsig Inspirational Batch 3 Chenin Blanc from Robertson, South Africa. Complex nose of yellow apple, pineapple, orange and a hint of fresh nuts. The palate is rich and broad with a nice depth that lingers nicely on the palate due to its well-balanced acidity. Spontaneous fermentation and maturation for 10 months in neutral French oak barrels, 2000l concrete tanks and 5000l foudres. Mild and soft cheeses, Shellfish, Spicy food and light fish dishes.

Chenin Blanc a high quality white grape from which one can make stunningly beautiful sweet wines in the Loire, such as Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaume. Locally the grape, as well as the wine, is called pineau de la loire. The relatively neutral character of the grape and the high acidity that provide a fresh impression. The grape is sensitive to noble rot by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Also important in South Africa (known as Steen) and in California.
