Cantina Del Vermentino “Nord Est” Vermentino Di Sardegna DOC from Sardinia, Italy. Deep stony yellow color with green rim. The nose has an intense bouquet with light bitter almond aromas. The taste is dry and refined with pleasant, yet refreshing acids in the aftertaste. Excellent as an aperitif, but also very tasty with fish, poultry and shellfish.

Vermentino is a characteristic grape variety in Liguria, from the Italian island of Sardinia, and also from the French island of Corsica, where it is sometimes called malvoisie de corse. Vermentino is a good quality white grape that usually produces full, powerful wines. These dry white wines can have an interesting intense fruitiness with depth and refinement if they have undergone careful vinification. Vermentino appears to have been imported from Spain in the Middle Ages and was a subspecies of malvasia. This species underwent many mutations, so that there are now about 40 versions of vermentino. Also mistakenly called malvasia.
