Ponte di Piave Spumante Pinot-Chardonnay from Veneto, Italy. Light yellow with green highlights. The nose is delicate and elegant. Notes of apple and pear are accompanied by more complex notes of citrus and ginger. This bouquet is completed by floral notes of rose. The taste is fresh and lively with fine notes of almond and honey. With aperitif and white fish. Chardonnay: the grape of white Burgundy and Champagne, and is planted all over the world. Produces good to very good wine with a full, dry taste. Chardonnay is a grape that does not have a clear character, that depends on the terroir (soil and climate) and the way of making wine. Chardonnay lends itself very well to maturing in wooden barrels. Pinot Blanc: a Burgundy grape with a good quality. The wines generally have a fairly subdued aroma and taste, which is usually fresh and flowery when young, somewhat spicier when older. A relatively full taste with a fairly high acidity is also characteristic. Pinot Blanc wines are an excellent accompaniment to all kinds of not too heavy dishes, such as asparagus. In Alsace the grape is sometimes called Klevner or Clevner. It is known as Pinot Bianco in Italy and as Weißburgunder or Weißer Burgunder in Germany and Austria. In Slovenia and the Balkans the grape can be called beli (white) pinot
