Saronsberg Artspace Chenin Blanc from Tulbagh, South Africa. Pale golden yellow colour. Pleasant aromas of red apple, peach and citrus blossoms. The flavour is full and ripe with recurring apple, peach and, as an added touch, a hint of mango. Fresh fruity finish. With aperitif, light salads, shellfish and light fish dishes. Chenin Blanc is a high-quality white grape from which one can make stunningly beautiful sweet wines in the Loire, such as Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaume. Locally, the grape, like the wine, is called Pineau de la Loire. The relatively neutral character of the grape and the high acidity that provide a fresh impression. The grape is sensitive to noble rot by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Also important in South Africa (known as Steen) and in California.
