Seravini Furbetta Catarratto Grecanico Bio from Scillië, Italy. A fresh, lively white wine with sparkling aromas of citrus fruits and orange blossom. The taste is deliciously juicy, with refined notes of citrus, a hint of melon and a touch of tropical fruit. Delicious with starters, seafood and grilled fish.

Catarratto, a widely planted white grape in Sicily, which can achieve quality if yields are controlled. The name is used for more varieties. In 1990, with some 65,000 hectares, Catarratto was the most planted vine in Italy after Sangiovese. Catarratto was used for Masala, but now the grape is distilled or concentrated. Catarratto plays a major role in Sicilian DOC wines and when vinified well, it produces refreshing and interesting wines.

Grecancio, the planting of this Sicilian vine is increasing. This originally Greek grape has, and this is very remarkable, clear similarities with the garganega from the Veneto wine region. The writer Nicolas Belfrage points out similarities in bunch, grape and leaf shape between the two varieties. In Sicily, wines from Grecanico have a round, fresh taste with a fruity and soft bouquet. It is increasingly used together with ‘new’ varieties such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The very good wine is characterized by a sharp glassy touch.
