Szepsy Furmint Dry from Tokaj, Hungary. Beautiful dry white wine based on 100% Furmint grape. One finds scents of quince and pineapple with mineral notes. Characteristic of this Furmint are its lively and soft acidity and elegant minerality. Top 5 Furmint wine !!!Szepsy is one of the most renowned winemakers in Hungary. The family winery was founded in the 17th century in the Tokaj wine region. In 2001, Szepsy was awarded the title of best winemaker in Hungary. Furmint, this grape does not have a clear origin like many other grapes, the origin of the furmint is probably in Western Europe. The furmint, like many other important grapes, is descended from the goulais blanc (a very old French grape, an important ancestor for many). She herself is the parent of the ideal blending partner hárslevelü. Furmint comes in many varieties. She is known for her many acids, tight aftertaste and wild flavors. Furmint makes lively wines, whether sweet, dry or with bubbles, a furmint wine speaks! Originally a dry grape, by letting the grapes hang longer, the grape develops a lot of sugars. The grape is also very sensitive to botrytus. The dry furmint wines provide many flavors such as citrus, lime zest, pear, minerals and smoky notes. The sweet furmint wines give flavors such as peach, pineapple, honey and with aging they develop flavors such as chocolate, nuts and coffee. We also find furmint in blends and in sparkling wine. The wine is added in blends to give it a fresh character.
