Wolvenhoek Baba Yeti Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc from Wolvenhoek in Wellington, South Africa. A Baba Yetu means “Our Father” in Swahili. This Chenin Blanc is a symphony of lemon meringue and passion fruit that swirls on the nose, framed by a fruity yet medium-bodied palate. A light acidity cuts through the creamy texture, resulting in a wine that is both fresh and lush.

Chenin Blanc is a high-quality white grape from which stunningly beautiful sweet wines can be made in the Loire, such as Bonnezeaux and Quarts de Chaume. Locally, the grape, like the wine, is called pineau de la loire. The relatively neutral character of the grape and the high acidity provide a fresh impression. The grape is sensitive to noble rot caused by the fungus Botrytis cinerea. Also important in South Africa (known as Steen) and in California.
