Chardonnay and Grechetto from Castello Della Sala from Umbria, Italy. A full-bodied, golden yellow wine with intense and expressive aromas of citrus, pear and acacia that are perfectly balanced with sultry and spicy notes. It is a smooth, yet powerful wine with a soft, buttery texture. 90% chardonnay and 10% grechetto picked early in the morning for freshness. The must was fermented in oak after which the wine was bottled fairly quickly. This wine then matured for several months in bottle. Umbria is located in the center of Italy and is characterized by beautiful slopes where grapes and oaks alternate in the rolling landscape. Truffles from Umbria are world famous and the region is a culinary gem that you should definitely visit. Superb combination with grilled fish and white meat.

Chardonnay, the grape of white Burgundy and Champagne, is grown all over the world. It produces good to very good wines with a full, dry flavor. Chardonnay is a grape variety with a lack of character, which depends on the terroir (soil and climate) and the winemaking method. Chardonnay is very well suited to aging in wooden barrels.

Grechetto is a good quality grape from central Italy that gives structure, richness and a nice nutty and leafy flavor to many white wines from Umbria. A good Orvieto owes a lot to Grechetto and this also applies to the white wines Torgiano and Cervaro from Antinori Grechetto is often mixed with Trebbiano, Malvasia and Verdello. The yield is small, but grechetto is sufficiently resistant to diseases. Good Vin Santo (dessert wine) is made from it.
