Chateau d’Argens Minervois, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre from Languedoc Minervois, France. The different grape varieties are vinified separately, This cuvée is a blend of 40% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre. The wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels. A wine with a beautiful, fleshy structure and an aromatic, gourmand bouquet. Deep purplish crimson. Very fresh nose. Rich and full. Not wild and mountainous and perhaps just a little too polished to be a typical Corbières, but it is a good drink with a lot of craftsmanship.

Château d’Argens, located in the bend of the Canal du Midi, was part of the Seigneuries de Sérame for many years. The imposing manor house, formerly Villa Arsegii (881), takes its name from a geological site consisting of sandstone and clay known for their quality (argilla in Latin). It overlooks the medieval village of the same name and boasts a 900-year history rooted in a turbulent past.

Long owned by the archbishopric of Narbonne, the castle came into the hands of Simon de Montfort in 1215 during the crusade against the Albigensians, before being sold to pay the ransom of Jean II le Bon, then a prisoner of the English. During the same period, it escaped the ravages of the Black Prince, unable to cross the flooded Aude. Antoine de Niquet, Vauban’s right-hand man and president of Toulouse’s parliament, took possession of it in 1722. Currently, Chateau d’Argent is working closely with the young team of the Family d’Exéa.

Syrah, a strong blue grape of very high quality. This grape is usually not easy for wine growers, but it is the seasoning for many Côtes du Rhône Villages. Delivers incredibly powerful and complex wines under optimal conditions. Have a high tannin content, without being stiff. The Syrah grape quickly suffers from poor fruit set in cool weather during flowering (coulure) but is not very susceptible to grape diseases such as oidium. The Grenache grape grows in warm and dry areas, such as southern France, Spain, South America and also California and Australia. This grape is also the most widely cultivated type of grape in the world for producing red . As just mentioned, the grape is called ‘Garnacha’ in Spanish. But you may also know him as ‘Cannonau’, as he is called in Sardinia. This grape is a real holidaymaker, and needs sun and hot pebbles to fully bake and ripen. Mourvèdre is an originally Catalan grape variety, called mataro in Catalan, but best known as monastrell. This grape is distinguished by its high-quality tannin that gives red wine a long life.
