Saronsberg Viognier

Saronsberg Viognier from Tulbagh, South Africa. The wine has a light straw colour and flavours of honey, pear, apricot and delicate floral notes. It has a rich, silky taste with subtle spices and yellow fruits, light oak and a balanced fresh finish. Although it has spent 11 months in oak, we aim to make a wine that is still vibrant and fresh with varied and delicate flavours, showing the subtleties and finesse that Viognier is capable of.

Viognier, an extremely vulnerable white grape of very high quality that forms the basis of Château Grillet and Condrieu. This grape is also allowed up to 20% in the red Côte Rôtie. Viognier produces a delicate, softly scented white wine. More and more quality-conscious wine growers are planting Viognier and as a result their white wines usually increase enormously in quality.
