Weingut Peter Dolle Gruner Veltliner Strassertal from Kamptal, Austria. Pale yellow wine with green hues, pleasant and elegant aromas of fresh hay and herbs. The beautiful white fruits are reminiscent of a meadow clover, tobacco leaves and a peppery finish. Grüner Veltliner is the grape of Austria and is also called weiβgipfel there. Grüner veltliner is most commonly planted in the area around Wachau, Krems, Langelois, Falkenstein and Retz. It is a grape that produces slightly pungent, pleasant, dry, fresh, fruity and easy to drink wines, but never top quality wines. Austria still has 3 veltliners with dark skin: roter, brauner and frühroter. The first 2 are only planted in small numbers; Frühroter (the skin is more red than black) is planted slightly more often, usually in the Weinvertel. The acidity is lower than that of the grüner veltliner.
