Verdeca is a grape that originates in the northwest of Puglia. The grape is often confused with the Verdicchio grape from Le Marche (partly because one of its synonyms is Verdicchio Verde), but Verdeca is genetically a completely different grape. This grape is a quality grape from Puglia and produces very aromatic white wines with beautiful mineral notes and good acidity, making the grape easy to grow in very warm Puglia. Verdeca is mainly blended with Chardonnay and can produce very fresh white wines, but is also ideal for wood aging.
